‘A returning horse no-one believed in’ – USMNT star Weston McKennie ‘never gives up’ and reaps the rewards in Juventus renaissance

The United States international appeared destined to take on a new challenge outside of Turin in the summer of 2023 after being allowed to head out on loan. He suffered relegation out of the Premier League during a forgettable stint at Leeds.

McKennie was, however, absorbed back into the Juve fold by Massimiliano Allegri and has rewarded that show of faith with a series of consistent performances. His versatility has been put to good use, with the 25-year-old becoming an important cog in the Bianconeri’s well-oiled machine.

Former Juve star Mark Iuliano is among those to have been impressed by the American’s attitude and application, with doubters being turned into believers. Iluliano has told Tuttomercatoweb when casting an eye over the class of 2023-24 at Allianz Stadium: “I also wanted to congratulate McKennie, who is a returning horse that no one believed in and who is instead having a good championship. He has a good sense of position and puts a lot of heart into it, he never gives up.”

McKennie is only tied to a contract at Juve through to 2025. His displays this season have seen fresh terms speculated on, with it suggested that a new three-year deal could be on the cards that includes the option for a 12-month extension beyond 2027.
