‘Renew contract immediately’ – Juventus offered Weston McKennie advice as USMNT star approaches final 12 months of current deal & sparks transfer talk

The United States international appeared to be surplus to requirements in Turin when being allowed to join Leeds on loan in January 2023. He returned to Italy on the back of suffering relegation out of the Premier League with a permanent move away from the Allianz Stadium expected to be sanctioned.

McKennie has, however, been offered a clean slate in 2023-24. He has made the most of that opportunity, with the 25-year-old putting his versatility to good use as he becomes a key part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans.

He is, however, only tied to terms through to 2025 and has sparked transfer talk ahead of the next window. With that in mind, former Bianconeri midfielder Sissoko has told TuttoJuve: “I’m crazy about him, he’s having a fantastic season. I’m reading about the negotiations for the renewal: if I were in the club, I would renew his contract immediately.”

McKennie joined Juve in the summer of 2020, initially on loan, and is closing in on 100 appearances for the club. He is also an important presence for his country, earning 51 caps, and will be hoping to figure prominently for them at a home Copa America tournament this summer.
