Neymar sensibly resists urge to take 'penalty from the president' at Kings League Brazil amid injury-enforced absence at Santos

The South American superstar has been unable to take to the field of late as he nurses his way back from another physical complaint. His time at Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal was cut short due to a series of fitness problems.

Neymar started his second spell at Santos positively enough, as he got back into goal-scoring mood, but is now having to carefully manage a rehabilitation programme that has seen him return to training.

While taking in a break from competitive action, Neymar has attended Kings League Brazil in his role as one of the team presidents for the Furia outfit. During their match with Real Elite, a “penalty from the president” was awarded. Neymar allowed close friend Cris Guedes to step up.

Neymar said of passing up the opportunity to attract unnecessary attention: “Soon! When I get back to training with the ball, I’ll take a little penalty.” The 33-year-old is, after signing a short-term contract at Santos, seeing a return to Europe speculated on heading into the summer transfer window of 2025.
