Moneyball! Stats lead Liverpool towards USMNT star Antonee Robinson as Reds begin to draw up summer transfer plans

It is not the first time that the Premier League giants from Anfield are said to have cast an eye in Robinson’s direction, with the 26-year-old full-back having proved his pedigree throughout a productive spell at Fulham. It could be that a formal approach is made in the summer of 2024.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool’s data analysis team have been “wowed” by Robinson’s output across a number of key areas. With a ‘Moneyball’ approach being taken to recruitment, the USMNT star may be offered an opportunity to head for Merseyside.

The 2023-24 campaign has seen Robinson impress for Marco Silva’s side in west London. His pace and willingness to get forward from left-back is clear for all to see, but he is much more than a bundle of energy. He has posted more interceptions this season (58) than any other player in the English top-flight and also ranks highly for progressive carries, successful take-ons and progressive passes.

Robinson has contributed five assists to the Cottagers’ cause this season, which suggests that he could suit an attacking system at Liverpool which requires full-backs to overlap on the flanks, but he is tied to a contract through to 2028 – which means that any transfer package will not come cheap.
