‘Maximum rizz!’ - James McClean’s ‘flirting’ with rival fans delights Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney’s fellow Wrexham board member

The 34-year-old forward was a notable addition at SToK Racecourse during the summer of 2023, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney delivering another marquee signing for manager Phil Parkinson. McClean’s experience is being put to good use, with a League Two promotion bid pieced together.

McClean’s consistency on the field has impressed many in North Wales, while he can always be relied upon to interact with opposition supporters. That was the case again during an FA Cup third-round derby date with Shrewsbury, leading Wrexham director Humphrey Ker to post on social media: “Never seen anyone flirt as much with oppo fans as this man. Maximum rizz. As the kids say.”

McClean has delivered a number of his own Instagram posts since helping to down Shrewsbury, with the former Republic of Ireland international saying it is “always lovely to knock a local rival out of the cup on their own patch”.

McClean has also reminded Shews star Tom Flanagan of his pre-match comments – with Elliot Lee already taking aim at a “semi-pro” jibe there – while the Irishman enjoyed the “good craic” of cup progress alongside talismanic team-mate Paul Mullin.
