Man Utd snap up teenage wonderkid with record-breaking Premier League father as INEOS secure first signing of new era

The youngster is a long way from being a first team star in Manchester, at just 14 years of age, but he is considered to be a hot prospect. After being monitored by most leading sides in the Premier League, Mexes links up with the Red Devils after bidding farewell to Ipswich.

United boast rich history when it comes to nurturing talent through their academy ranks, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo representing that youth structure in the senior side at present.

Mexes has the perfect role model in his family, with father Robert Earnshaw having reached the very highest level in his playing days. He remains the only man to have scored a hat-trick in the Premier League, all three divisions of the English Football League, the FA Cup, League Cup and internationally for Wales.
