  • The FA Cup result might not change his fate
  • Yorke offered himself for the job
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Yorke, 52, has put himself forward as a potential successor to Ten Hag, who is under immense pressure ahead of the crucial FA Cup final against Manchester City. His managerial resume includes a seven-month stint at Macarthur FC in Australia, where he led the team to their first-ever silverware. However, the tenure ended abruptly following a heated outburst in the dressing room.

    WHAT YORKE SAID

In an interview withFastest Payout Online Casinos, Yorke said: "The kind of character, the way I come across, know how to coach, the little learning experience I've got, the people I'm going to bring in to make that football club better in my backroom staff is very important. Manchester United is a job you can't turn down. It's too big a job. The DNA of football has been there. I've proved that I can manage in a short space of time in winning that [the Australia Cup]."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Yorke also pointed out that other former Manchester United players, including Roy Keane, Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, and Jaap Stam, have been fortunate enough to land managerial opportunities and argued that he, too, deserves a chance to prove himself at the top level.

"Trust me, if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can manage, I definitely could be a manager," he told Mail Sport.

"Every time I've done what they've asked me, they seem to be moving the goalposts. Other people who have done far less in the game in the management department are getting three, four, five chances. It's crazy. There is not a job that's going that I'm not trying to get. These are things that have been posed to me: 'You don't have your licence. You don't have any experience' - went and got my experience, won a cup. Now they say, 'You don't know the league, you've never managed in the league.' That's the next thing."

Manchester United's search for a new manager has reportedly led them to consider four candidates, each with significant experience. Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, both currently free agents after leaving Bayern Munich and Chelsea, respectively, are among the top contenders. Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna and Brentford's Thomas Frank are also on the shortlist, after flourishing at their respective clubs.

    WHAT NEXT?

Yorke's ambition and determination reflect his deep connection to Manchester United and his desire to contribute to its success. As the club navigates this critical period, the possibility of seeing another club legend at the helm remains an intriguing prospect but his credentials might not be enough to convince Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.
