'Lucky' - USMNT star Christian Pulisic sends parting message to Olivier Giroud after AC Milan teammate confirms imminent transfer to MLS

World Cup winner Giroud has, at 37 years of age, confirmed that he will be leaving San Siro as a free agent when his contract expires this summer. He has said, with a move to the United States being lined up: “The next two games will be my last for Milan. My career will continue in MLS. I'm very proud of everything I've done here at Milan across three seasons. It's the right time to announce it. I'm a bit emotional. My story with Milan ends this year. But Milan will forever remain in my heart.”

Giroud joined Milan in 2021 and has scored 48 goals for the Rossoneri through 130 appearances – helping them to Serie A title glory in his debut campaign. Prior to making a move to Italy, the Frenchman had been on the books at Chelsea – where he also worked with Pulisic.

USMNT forward Pulisic is delighted to have spent so much time in the company of France’s all-time leading goalscorer, posting on Instagram after seeing the veteran frontman confirm his imminent departure from Milan: “Lucky to have graced the pitch with this guy.”

Giroud is now poised to link up with MLS outfit LAFC, where he will be reunited with former France team-mate Hugo Lloris. Pulisic, meanwhile, is expected to remain in Milan for the foreseeable future after posting a personal-best return of 15 goals this season.
