Lionel Messi makes huge MLS future call! Inter Miami get their answer after putting contract question to Argentine GOAT

Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi moved to the United States in 2023 when deciding to go chasing the American dream. He was talked into doing that by Manchester United and England legend David Beckham, who is now a co-owner at Chase Stadium.

Messi made an immediate impact with the Herons, helping them to a historic Leagues Cup triumph within weeks of his arrival, and broke MLS regular season points records in 2024 as Inter Miami claimed the Supporters’ Shield - while also claiming MVP honours.

There have been questions throughout the current campaign of how much longer Messi will be sticking around in South Florida. He has seen a move to join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League mooted, along with a return to his roots at Newell’s Old Boys.

According to ESPN, an agreement has been reached that will keep the 38-year-old in Miami - where his wife Antonela and their three sons feel settled. It is said that once all of the extension details have been ironed out, “the contract will be sent to Major League Soccer for final approval”.

It has previously been suggested that Messi is ready to commit his future to Inter Miami through to 2028 - which would be another three seasons in MLS. It remains to be seen what the terms actually are, with a global audience waiting patiently on official confirmation of the proposed deal.
