Lauren James is a Chelsea icon! Moises Caicedo dons winger’s famous No.10 shirt to celebrate ‘well deserved’ WSL Player of the Month award

James has been named the Barclays Women's Super League (WSL) Player of the Month for January for excelling in two crucial WSL fixtures against Manchester United and Brighton. In a standout display against the Red Devils, James netted a remarkable hat-trick and followed her stellar performance with another impressive showing, scoring a brace in Chelsea's victory over the Seagulls.

Despite facing tough competition from notable players across the league, including Emily Fox of Arsenal, Manchester City duo Bunny Shaw and Laia Aleixandri, Leicester's Janice Cayman, and West Ham's Viviane Asseyi, James emerged victorious. That nod underscored the significance of her remarkable contributions to Chelsea's success this term. With her goals propelling the Blues to victory, her side currently sits at the WSL summit and are poised to secure a fifth consecutive league triumph.

James will be in action in a London derby against Crystal Palace on Sunday, in an FA Women's Cup fifth-round fixture. Caicedo will also take on the Eagles a day later in a Premier League fixture at Selhurst Park, where the Blues will look to build on an impressive win over Aston Villa in the FA Cup in midweek.
