La Liga top scorers 2024-25: Kylian Mbappe wins the Pichichi trophy

Kylian Mbappe has capped off a sensational season by clinching the Pichichi Trophy as La Liga's top marksman—and for the first time in his career, he's also bagged the coveted European Golden Boot.

Known in Spain as the prestigious Pichichi Trophy, this award goes to the league's top marksman each season. In the 2024/25 campaign, it was Artem Dovbyk—then leading the line for Girona and now at Roma—who took top honours, finishing ahead of Jude Bellingham, Robert Lewandowski, and Alexander Sørloth, who has since made the switch to Atletico Madrid.

This time around, it's largely been a two-horse race between Kylian Mbappé and Lewandowski, though Osasuna's Ante Budimir has thrown a real spanner in the works with an eye-catching challenge of his own.

GOAL brings you a fully updated rundown of the leading scorers in La Liga across the 2024-25 season.

    1Kylian Mbappe | Real Madrid | 31 goals

Kylian Mbappe lit up LaLiga with 31 goals—four clear of Robert Lewandowski—to etch his name into Real Madrid folklore, becoming the club’s 16th player to claim the iconic Pichichi Trophy. In what’s been a sensational debut season at the Bernabéu, the Frenchman has already racked up 43 goals across all competitions, announcing himself in emphatic fashion on Spanish soil.

    2Robert Lewandowski | Barcelona | 27 goals

Few forwards have enjoyed careers as illustrious as Robert Lewandowski, who’s thrived under tactical masterminds like Klopp, Guardiola, and Ancelotti. But it was Hansi Flick who unlocked his most lethal version — none more so than during Bayern’s treble-winning run in 2020–21, where the Pole bagged a mind-blowing 48 goals in all competitions.

Fast forward to 2025, and Flick and Lewy have reunited at Barcelona, rekindling the spark. While the veteran striker exploded out of the gates early in the season, his scoring cooled off slightly down the stretch — leaving him just shy of clinching the European Golden Shoe. Still, the old magic is far from gone.

  • Ante Budimir Osasuna 2024@Osasuna

    3Ante Budimir | Osasuna | 21 goals

Ante Budimir might fly under the radar compared to La Liga's headline-grabbers, but the Osasuna striker delivered one of the league’s most consistent goal returns last season.

The Croatian hitman racked up 21 goals in 38 appearances, finishing with a sharp 0.55 goals per game average. That tally not only made him Osasuna’s go-to man up top, but also saw him finish fifth in the La Liga scoring charts, just two shy of heavyweight names like Robert Lewandowski and Jude Bellingham.

Leading the line as a lone frontman, Budimir proved once again he’s a clinical operator — and a key cog in Jagoba Arrasate's system.

    4Alexander Sørloth | Atletico Madrid | 20 goals

Sørloth has quietly gone about his business this season, but his numbers speak volumes. The Atletico Madrid forward has struck 20 goals in 35 league outings, boasting a tidy 0.57 goals-per-game rate.

Reliable, efficient, and constantly on the scoresheet, the Norwegian hitman has become a dependable presence in Diego Simeone’s setup — offering both a physical edge and a clinical touch in front of goal.

    5Ayoze Perez | Villarreal | 19 goals

Once cast aside in England after underwhelming stints at Newcastle and Leicester, Ayoze Pérez has flipped the script in Spain. Now a key figure for both Villarreal and the Spanish national team, the 30-year-old is thriving as the focal point of Marcelino’s rebuilt side.

After a turbulent 2023-24 campaign that saw three different managers and an underwhelming eighth-place finish, the Yellow Submarine have finally found calm waters. Marcelino's return to El Madrigal took a bit of time to click, but with Pérez pulling the strings in attack, Villarreal are very much back on course.

  • Raphinha Barcelona 2024Getty Images

    6Raphinha | Barcelona | 18 goals

Barcelona star Raphinha turned down Chelsea, and Saudi clubs in a serious summer snub to stay in Catalonia, and the Catalans are now reaping the rewards of that decision from a player who has been in incredible form so far this season, with new boss Hansi Flick unleashing the athletic side of his game.

    7Julian Alvarez | Atletico Madrid | 17 goals

Alvarez is thriving in his debut season with Atlético de Madrid. After making the switch from Manchester City earlier this campaign for a fee of around £81 million, the Argentine has quickly become a key fixture in fellow countryman Diego Simeone's starting lineup.

Oihan Sancet has elevated his game to new heights this season. After making waves in previous campaigns, the young midfielder has truly cemented his place as a pivotal figure in Athletic Club's impressive form across all competitions during the 2023-24 season.

The past year has been transformative for Sancet, who also earned his first cap for Spain. He attributes much of his growth, both on and off the pitch, to Athletic's head coach Ernesto Valverde.

    9Kike | Alavés | 12 goals

Kike Garcia, the 6ft 1in, 12-stone, 35-year-old centre-forward for Deportivo Alaves, carries an old-school vibe reminiscent of the 80s. A striker with shades of yesteryear, he may not be the most prolific in front of goal, but his presence on the pitch speaks to a different era of football.

  • RCD Espanyol de Barcelona v Sevilla FC - La Liga EA SportsGetty Images Sport

    10Dodi Lukebakio | Sevilla | 11 goals

Sevilla is far from the powerhouse it once was. However, one player capable of pushing the team forward is Dodi Lukebakio. The Belgian forward, who made the move from Germany's Hertha Berlin to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last summer, currently leads the squad with five goals this season. Besides his impressive scoring form, Lukebakio brings much-needed aggression to Sevilla’s attack—charging at defenders and delivering powerful shots on goal.

    13Thierno Barry | Villarreal | 11 goals

Signed from Basel last summer, few truly knew what to expect from Barry at Villarreal. The Frenchman had shown glimpses of his ability in Switzerland, but scored just nine goals in 35 games over the course of his one and only full season at St Jakob Park during which Basel battled relegation.

Since joining Villarreal, though, Barry has taken a major step forward in his development and has emerged as one of the most promising young centre forwards in La Liga.

  • fabio silva las palmasGetty Images

    15Fabio Silva | Las Palmas | 10 goals

Labeling Fabio Silva's stint at Wolves as underwhelming might be putting it mildly. The big-money signing has struggled to live up to expectations at Molineux, managing just five goals across 72 appearances and failing to thrive under a series of managers.

Loan moves to PSV, Rangers, and Anderlecht did little to spark a turnaround, as the Portuguese U21 international battled with confidence issues and a lack of consistency. But since making the switch to Las Palmas on loan last summer, Silva has looked revitalized. The 22-year-old centre-forward is now showing flashes of the talent that once made him one of Europe's most highly-rated prospects.

    17Borja Iglesias | Celta Vigo | 9 goals

Borja Iglesias has rediscovered his spark far from Seville, thriving in Celta Vigo colours this season. Since joining on loan from Real Betis, the forward has looked rejuvenated — playing with freedom, confidence, and a hunger that had gone missing.

Back in rhythm and back among the goals, Iglesias has quickly become a focal point for the Galician outfit. His sharp instincts in front of goal have resurfaced at the perfect time, breathing new life into Celta’s attack and reigniting the buzz among the Balaídos faithful, who are once again cheering his every move.
