Maddison is known for his darts celebration but changed tack earlier this season and ended up whipping off his Tottenham shirt after scoring against Brentford. THE BIGGER PICTURE

Maddison was on target again in an impressive 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, but this time kept his shirt on. The 27-year-old scored a free-kick and revealed the secret to his set-piece success after the final whistle. He added: "It can be difficult sometimes, the really close ones which are right on the edge. You haven’t got as much time to get it up-and-down, so it’s why I took it a little bit quicker. Not sure if you noticed but as soon as the whistle went, I was already leaning into it, to try and catch [Emi] Martinez out a bit, because he’s a good goalkeeper."
