Inter let down in bid to sign Felix Nmecha as Borussia Dortmund slap huge asking price on Man Utd target

According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter made an enquiry about Dortmund’s Nmecha, exploring the possibility of bringing the German midfielder to San Siro. The Nerazzurri admire his versatility, as he can operate both in central midfield and further forward. But Dortmund responded with a firm stance, Nmecha would cost €60 million (£50m/$65m), a figure Inter are unwilling to meet.

The young midfielder's rise since joining Die Schwarzgelben from Wolfsburg in 2023 has been impressive, establishing himself as a vital first-team player. United reportedly explored a €47m (£40m/$51m) bid earlier in the window, but Dortmund are determined to hold firm at €60m. With Manu Kone’s move from Roma hitting a roadblock, Inter are still seeking midfield reinforcements, but their financial limits mean Nmecha looks out of reach.

The 24-year-old offers dynamism, ball progression, and a threat arriving late into the box - qualities that would strengthen Inter’s midfield depth. Cristian Chivu’s system could benefit from Nmecha’s versatility, but Dortmund’s refusal to lower their valuation reflects just how important he has become in their project. While Inter’s interest remains at the survey stage, the Nerazzurri may now pivot back to Atalanta’s Ederson, who is valued at around €45m (£38m/$49m).

The Serie A giants are expected to continue their search for midfield reinforcements, but unless Dortmund soften their stance, Nmecha will remain in Germany. The Nerazzurri could revive talks for Ederson, while United’s long-standing interest in Nmecha suggests he could still be a name to watch in the Premier League market.
