    THE BIGGER PICTURE

He is, however, on big money at Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds – having previously represented them in the Premier League – and is not expected to reach an agreement that would see the 31-year-old swap West Yorkshire for North Wales.

  • WHAT EFL PUNDIT SAID

Wrexham are, however, being linked with other forward options in January and EFL pundit Don Goodman, speaking via Plejmo.com, has said: “With the greatest of respect to Wrexham, it's a brilliant project with all the glitz and glamour, I think Patrick Bamford would have greater ambition from a footballing point of view, as despite them having a brilliant season, it’s possible Wrexham could still be a League One club next season.

“I could see Ryan Hardie being an attractive option, however. Phil Parkinson likes that kind of striker and I'd imagine the player would receive a hefty pay increase despite the fact he'd be dropping down a level.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Scottish striker Hardie is currently on the books of Plymouth, where he was recently working with Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney. He is said to have a £2 million release clause at Home Park which, if triggered, would see Wrexham smash their transfer record once again.
