Future Man Utd keeper? Rio Ferdinand’s son Lorenz signs first professional contract at Brighton in ‘very proud moment for the family’

The 19-year-old forms part of the Seagulls’ U21 squad and operates as a goalkeeper. His famous father forged his career out of keeping opponents at bay, with a reputation being earned as of the finest centre-halves in world football.

Lorenz will be hoping to follow in illustrious footsteps, with it possible that he will harbour his own dreams of one day turning out at Old Trafford. For now, he is focused on fulfilling potential at the Amex Stadium.

Ferdinand’s wife, Kate, has posted on social media after seeing Lorenz pen his first deal as a senior star: “Very proud moment for the family, Lorenz signing his first professional contract. We are all so proud of you.”

United find themselves in the market for a new goalkeeper at the moment, as questions continue to be asked of Cameroon international Andre Onana and his value to the collective cause. Interest is said to be held in World Cup winner Emi Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain No.1 Gianluigi Donnarumma.
