France players & staff unite in support of Adrien Rabiot's mum Veronique after abhorrent 'betrayal for whores' banners that mocked her and midfielder's deceased father

Following the insults and attacks directed at Adrien Rabiot and his family during the PSG-Marseille match on Sunday, the French national team has rallied behind the midfielder. RMC SPORTreported that during Monday's training session at Clairefontaine, several players such as Jonathan Clauss, Lucas Digne, and PSG's Bradley Barcola, as well as staff members of Didier Deschamps’ team showed solidarity with Rabiot and his mother, Veronique. Deschamps and his staff also spoke with Veronique to offer their backing.

Rabiot was met with a hostile reception from PSG fans as he returned to the Parc des Princes on Sunday night with rivals Marseille, marking his first appearance there since his contentious departure in 2019. One banner read, "Loyalty for men, betrayal for whores – like mother, like son", in a game where Rabiot and his family was targeted by a flurry of offensive chants and banners.

Following the game, Rabiot took to Instagram and called out PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi: "Insulting a mother, and a deceased father... Everything has to be paid for one day. You won't take it to heaven. Believe me. Nasser, you can have all the money in the world and even more, class can't be bought."

Rabiot’s mother has confirmed she intends to file a complaint regarding the fans' chants and banners. "Of course I'm going to file a complaint. I don't understand why the match wasn't stopped," Veronique, who is also Adrien's agent, told Radio France. "I don't understand why no one is outraged. I'm really outraged, outraged, really outraged by what can be said and written, without anyone reacting."

The central midfielder has been called up by Deschamps for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Croatia, whom they will take on in the quarter-finals over two legs to be played on Thursday, March 20, and Sunday, March 23.
