Explained: Bizarre reason Man Utd couldn't sell Rasmus Hojlund shirts for over a month after his £72m transfer from Atalanta

The Denmark international striker completed a £72 million ($90m) transfer from Serie A side Atalanta during the summer transfer window. He has become the most expensive forward ever acquired by the Red Devils.

The hope is that Hojlund will prove to be an answer to United’s long-standing issues in the No.9 department, although he has been handed the No.11 jersey once worn by club legend Ryan Giggs. United have since announced that the “øs” have arrived and that Hojlund shirts are now finally on sale. The highly-rated 20-year-old made his Premier League debut for the Red Devils off the bench in a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal and will be hoping to figure more prominently after the international break – starting with a home date with Brighton on September 16.
