  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Red Devils agreed to part with another product of their fabled academy system during the summer of 2024, with it becoming clear that he had no future at Old Trafford. A £27 million ($34m) deal took Greenwood away from English football and over to France.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

He has starred in Ligue 1, registering 14 goals, and has been linked with leading sides from across Europe – including Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. It has even been suggested that PSG have a €75m (£62m/$79m) offer on the table.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

As things stand, any sale there would land Premier League giants United €37.5m (£31m/$39m). TEAMtalk are, however, reporting that United have the option to increase their sell-on percentage at various intervals – with said windows of opportunity being triggered by “performance-related criteria and time”.

    TELL ME MORE

The longer that Greenwood continues to impress, the more his market value will rise. United will want to maximise any profits there, as they increase their stake in the forward’s future, while Marseille are effectively reimbursed for the fee that they initially shelled out.

  • WHAT NEXT?

TEAMtalk have played down any suggestion that PSG are already in for Greenwood, with it unlikely that he could be lured away from Stade Velodrome by a domestic rival, but the 23-year-old is seeing his stock rise and United will be hoping that Marseille can hold out long enough for them to trigger a sell-on increase.
