Bad news for Eric Dier! Defender's wish for new contract to be ignored by Bayern Munich as Harry Kane partnership set to end this summer

Per Sky Sports Germany, Bayern have decided not to offer a new contract to the English defender, whose current deal expires at the end of this season. The report also claims that, while Dier is keen on staying in Munich, the club will not offer him an extension as they plan to use Josep Stanisic as a central defender from next season.

Stanisic is predominantly a right full-back but he can also contribute as a centre-back from time to time. The Bavarian side are banking on the Croatian's versatility and, as a result, are not too keen on extending Dier's stay. Japan international Hiroki Ito has also been impressive for Vincent Kompany's side at the heart of the team's defence in the 2024-25 season.

The former Tottenham star's partnership with compatriot Harry Kane at Allianz Arena will end after two years. In January, the duo created history by becoming the first English pair in history to combine for a goal in the Bundesliga.

Kompany's men will be back in action in the Champions League on Wednesday as they face Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their round of 16 fixture.
