‘Engaged 365 days a year’ - Tom Brady’s role at Birmingham City explained as NFL legend helps to steer record-breaking Blues back towards the Premier League

Eyebrows were raised back in August 2023 when it was revealed that seven-time Super Bowl winner Brady had acquired a minority stake in the Blues and would take up a role on their board.

Plenty of questions have been asked since then of how involved he is with the West Midlands-based club and precisely what he has to offer - having forged his GOAT reputation while playing an altogether different kind of football.

Birmingham suffered relegation during the debut campaign of Brady’s involvement, with the appointment of Wayne Rooney as manager one of several questionable decisions that were made, but they are heading back to the Championship in record-breaking style.

Co-owner Wagner has told The Times of Brady’s role in a much bigger picture: “Tom is engaged with the club 365 days a year. Not a day goes by where he and I don’t FaceTime or talk or message about Birmingham.

“I consider myself to be a pretty competitive person. Tom’s on a whole other level. His philosophy around winning and the culture of winning is extremely well developed. When I talked about creating the right processes at the club to provide a foundation for success, Tom is the one really driving that.”

Brady brings trophy-winning knowhow to Birmingham, with that vast experience being put to good use. He does not meddle in matters such as team selection and tactics, but keeps a close eye on events at St Andrew’s and has attended several games.

He has seen the League One title secured in style this season, with history being made by a team that has already reached 108 points. Ambitious plans for the future are being drawn up, which include the construction of a new 62,000-seater stadium.
