Emily Fox is loving life at Arsenal! Gunners boss full of praise for 'assertive' USWNT star following impressive display in Liverpool victory

The 25-year-old defender is experiencing life in England for the first time after completing a move to north London in early January. Her pedigree was never in doubt, with 39 international caps to her name, but it is always difficult to predict how new arrivals will settle in the WSL.

Fox has taken those challenges in her stride, with the classy full-back slotting seamlessly into Arsenal’s plans. She caught the eye again during an impressive 2-0 victory for the Gunners over Liverpool, with a clean sheet secured in a game that did not require England star Leah Williamson to step off the bench in her ongoing recovery from a serious ACL injury.

Eidevall was full of praise for Fox and the qualities that she brings to the Arsenal team, telling reporters after watching the United States international star on Merseyside: “Superb. She plays with a lot of self confidence and assertiveness, you can see a lot of the qualities we rated in her so highly when we looked at full-backs. Her versatility and her ability to handle one v one situations. But also really good passing and combination play. She offers a lot of things that fits very well to an Arsenal player.”

Arsenal are very much in the 2023-24 WSL title race, with another welcome win leaving them third in the table. They are level on points with Manchester City and only three adrift of defending champions Chelsea, with a London derby trip to West Ham next on the agenda for them.
