  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Spaniard has brought City unprecedented success but he is yet to sign a new deal, with his current contract running until the summer of 2025. Now, goalkeeper Ederson has backed the Citizens to continue their winning ways to be successful when the ex-Barcelona boss eventually departs.

    WHAT EDERSON SAID

He told TNT Sports Brazil, via The Times: “City is a very well-structured club, well-managed, great directors, great CEO. I believe the club already has the next manager in mind… the day Pep decides to leave, they will try to follow the same line of work.

“Of course it’d be a great loss [if Guardiola left]. We’re talking about the best manager in the world but I see a really well-prepared club for the post-Pep era.”"

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

City have won everything under Guardiola since he took charge in 2016. Although his contract is winding down, reports suggest the former Bayern Munich manager may sign a contract extension in the coming months. That is likely to be bad news for the rest of the Premier League.
