    THE BIGGER PICTURE

More superstars are expected to pass through North Wales in the weeks and months to come, with McElhenney recently attending the so-called League One ‘Hollywood Derby’ between Wrexham and Birmingham that saw Tom Brady and David Beckham take up seats in the stands.

  • WHAT MARRIOTT SAID

Jack Marriott was on target in that contest, before suffering a 3-1 defeat, and the Wrexham striker has told Sky Sports when asked who he wants to play in front of next: “Tough question that. I’m a big comedy fan, so someone like Adam Sandler. We share the same birthday, which I discovered the other day. I’m a big fan of his. I’d like to see him.”

    DID YOU KNOW?

Marriott added on the upcoming release of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’, with Sandler set to bring his popular golf character back to the fairways and big screen: “That’s going to be a good one. I think I probably watched the original one well into the three figures, so I can’t wait for the new one.”

  • WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

For now, Marriott is focused on delivering the goods for Reynolds and McElhenney – following their show of faith in his ability. He has registered three goals this season, but faces fierce competition for striking berths from Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Steven Fletcher and club-record signing Mo Faal.
