‘I don’t care’ - Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid rumours branded a ‘lie’ as PSG boss Luis Enrique launches into angry rant about his experience in the game

Questions continue to be asked of how long the World Cup-winning forward will be sticking around at Parc des Princes, with his contract running down towards free agency. Real Madrid have held long-standing interest in the France international and are said to be stepping up efforts to secure his signature in 2024.

PSG are aware of the gossip but continue to turn a deaf ear to it, as they have not given up hope of tying Mbappe to fresh terms. They will not be drawn on the links to Real Madrid and prefer instead to focus on what the club’s all-time leading goalscorer is delivering on the field.

Head coach Enrique has been around long enough to know that transfer sagas are always going to emerge. But he has told Amazon Prime Video Sport France when asked if PSG are becoming a “little tired and angry” at the endless Mbappe stories: “Do you know how many years I have been in the elite of world European football? Well, five in Madrid, eight in Barcelona as a player. As a coach, six at Barcelona, at Roma, at Celta Vigo. I played for Sporting Gijon. I was born in a locker room in which around it there are always comments from one person, from another, a rumour, a lie, and a lie is made. I’m so used to that, I don’t care.”

Liverpool have also been credited with interest in Mbappe, with no definitive decision on his future taken as yet, but there remains a chance that the prolific 25-year-old will opt to remain in the comfort zone of his homeland beyond the summer of 2024.
