The United States international bid farewell to Chelsea in the summer of 2023 after four years at Stamford Bridge that saw him become a Champions League winner, but also struggle for form and fitness at times. He has endured no such issues in Italy.

Pulisic has posted a personal-best return of 12 goals in the current campaign, with one of those being Milan’s 5,000th in their Serie A history. The 25-year-old has become a key part of Stefano Pioli’s plans, with the kind of consistency being found that proved so elusive in England.

Former Italy international Paolo Di Canio, who spent time in Serie A and the Premier League during his playing days, has told Sky Sport Italia of why an American star is shining once again: “Pulisic has a great deal of experience, he has already won in his career. He is a player with pace, who controls the ball well, thinks quickly, and can do even better in Italy. The reason is that he is not finding the same injuries that slowed him down, so consequently he is finding consistency. He is a player who makes the difference: as a winger, he can cut inside, he can combine. In the most recent match, he sprinted to reach a tap-in after 50 metres. Those fresh legs are an important element.”

Pulisic is currently away on international duty and will be hoping to inspire the USMNT to a CONCACAF Nations League triumph, allowing him to return to Milan ready to chase down Champions League qualification and Europa League glory.
