Is Bukayo Saka an injury concern for Arsenal? Gunners star struggling to shake off long-standing issue

The 22-year-old winger has been a model of consistency for the Gunners since making a senior breakthrough and rarely misses games due to physical ailments. He has taken in 184 appearances for the north London outfit and has only ever sat out two games at club level due to fitness problems.

The Daily Mail has, however, claimed that Saka is still carrying an Achilles problem that dogged him throughout the 2022-23 campaign. He was able to manage that and play through any pain, but Arsenal would prefer to have him performing at 100 per cent.

It is suggested that England did not include Saka in their starting XI for a friendly date with Scotland as he needs to be rested at times. He did figure off the bench in that contest at Hampden Park, but few risks were taken on him.

Arsenal will hope that the issue can be resolved, without the need for surgery or a spell on the sidelines, with Mikel Arteta’s side readying themselves for a return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take in a trip to Everton.
