Bayern have an injury crisis! Thomas Tuchel confirms Alphonso Davies joins Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano on sidelines ahead of crucial clash against Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen

Bayern confirmed the Canadian full-back picked up a ligament strain during the 3-1 win over Gladbach on Saturday. The news comes as a huge blow to the club ahead of their crucial fixture against league leaders Bayer Leverkusen next weekend. The Bavarians are already missing regular first-team players like Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano due to injuries.

In their statement, Bayern Munich wrote: "Alphonso Davies suffered a ligament strain in his left knee during Bayern’s 3-1 Bundesliga win at home to Borussia Monchengladbach. Get well soon, Phonzy!"

In his post-match press conference, manager Thomas Tuchel said: "He twisted his knee and needs to be examined now. And then we'll wait. I wouldn't have any words for it if it happened again. Now that Phonzie is just getting back into form."

Tuchel's side picked up a crucial win on Saturday courtesy of goals from Aleksandar Pavlovic, Harry Kane and Matthijs de Ligt. The Engish forward scored his 24th Bundesliga goal for the club and equalled Luca Toni's 17-year-old record. He is now chasing Robert Lewandowski's record of scoring 41 Bundesliga goals in a single campaign from the 2020-21 season.

The reigning German champions, who are now two points behind Leverkusen, will face them next in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
