    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Madrid have splashed considerable money in upgrading their squad after failing to win major silverware last season. Besides hiring Xabi Alonso, they have already acquired Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, and Franco Mastantuono. More signings have not been ruled out, either. It is expected that Barca and Madrid will once again get involved in a title race that could potentially go right down to the wire.

  • WHAT DANI OLMO SAID

Speaking on COPE's El Partidazoprogram, Olmo said: "Madrid will also want to have the best players, so in that sense it's very good. We've also strengthened our position, and even better, I'd say."
