Mamelodi Sundowns still negotiating with Algerian defender Hachi

Contrary to reports that had surfaced on transfer deadline day, Mamelodi Sundowns have not signed former ES Setif player Fares Hachi.

The 27-year-old full-back has been on trial with the Caf Champions League winners for the past two weeks in hope of earning a deal at Chloorkop.

Sundowns’ general manager Sizwe Nzimande, who denied the claims, however, stated the left back is still undergoing negotiations with the club.

“No, it is not true. We have not signed him (Fares). But we are speaking to him,” Nzimande told Goal.

Nzimande also stated that Hachi was not with the team in Tanzania as Pitso Mosimane’s men prepare for the resumption of the season.

Sundowns will be in no rush to sign the player as he is currently a free agent.  Hachi is set to be the first Algerian to ply his trade in South Africa.

The El Biar-born player has spent most of his career in the lower leagues of France, before returning to his native homeland.

Sundowns head coach Mosimane was reportedly impressed with the player after his exploits in the 2016 Caf Champions League.
