    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Werner joined Spurs back in January 2024 and went on to score only two goals in the Premier League that season. The next term, he featured in 18 matches, but failed to find the back of the net. Moreover, he didn’t get a place in the matchday squad for the Europa League final against Manchester United, which Spurs won, but he was seen in the stands and celebrated the trophy win later. Due to his dismal statistics, Spurs did not trigger the €10 million purchase option.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The now 29-year-old Werner had signed for Chelsea for £47.5 million back in 2020 and managed six goals and 12 assists in his first Premier League season, but his form dropped off and he returned to Germany in 2022.
