Newcastle United wrapped up their pre-season training camp at adidas' global headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, with a behind-closed-doors practice match victory against SpVgg Unterhaching.
The Magpies then won comfortably against Hull City (2-0), who finished seventh in the Championship last term, on Saturday, July 27 before heading to Japan, having been invited to participate in the J-League International Series 2024 as part of their preparation for the 2024/25 Premier League season.
They arrived in Tokyo on Sunday, July 28, and thrashed the 2022 AFC Champions League winners, Urawa Red Diamonds, 4-1 at the 63,700-capacity Saitama Stadium on Wednesday, July 31.
Eddie Howe's team also defeated last season's J League runners-up Yokohama F. Marinos at the Japan National Stadium.
Newcastle United's chief commercial officer, Peter Silverstone, said: "For any pre-season tour, our aim is to support the needs of our teams during this crucial period and the players will train and play at elite facilities in Japan. We are continuing to work collaboratively on our overall pre-season schedule and hope to announce additional matches in the UK and Europe soon."
The Toon will wrap up their pre-season by facing two European opponents at St. James' Park on consecutive days, with UEFA Champions League sides Girona FC and Stade Brestois set to feature in "The Sela Weekender."
