Liam Delap's cut-price Ipswich relegation release clause revealed as transfer suitors Chelsea & Man Utd are put on red alert

Delap has enjoyed an impressive maiden season with Ipswich Town, as he has scored 12 goals and provided two assists across all competitions. He has been a key figure in Kieran McKenna's squad, who continue to fight to stay alive in the English top flight.

According to The Guardian, should Ipswich be relegated from the Premier League this season, Delap's release clause will drop from a reported £40 million ($51m) to £30m ($38m). This news will have put suitors like Chelsea and Manchester United on high alert as both look to sign the 22-year-old forward in the upcoming transfer window.

The report adds that the Tractor Boys must pay Manchester City a significant amount of any transfer fee they receive for Delap this summer as his former club hold a 20 percent sell-on clause. Other than the Blues and United, Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in the youngster.

Ipswich will be back in action in the Premier League on Sunday as they take on Enzo Maresca's Chelsea away from home, in what could be an audition for Delap.
