Borussia Dortmund ramp up interest in Marcus Rashford after fresh talks as manager Nuri Sahin pushes club to sign Man Utd outcast on loan

According to Sky Sports Germany, Dortmund are ramping up efforts to sign Rashford with the German club’s leadership, including Sebastian Kehl and Nuri Sahin, actively pursuing the Manchester United forward. Fresh discussions have taken place between the two parties, and Dortmund are now seeking to secure Rashford on a loan deal. The decision to accelerate their interest reportedly followed a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Friday in the Bundesliga.

Rashford, now 27 years old, has endured a challenging period at Manchester United. In a candid interview last month, the England international admitted he was considering leaving his boyhood club. Since then, his involvement has been minimal, having made just one matchday squad in the past month and remaining unused by manager Ruben Amorim. Rashford’s reduced role has led to growing speculation about his future, with several European clubs expressing interest in his services.

While Borussia Dortmund appear to be leading the race for Rashford, they are not alone in their pursuit. AC Milan, Napoli, and Barcelona have all been linked with the forward. However, Milan are facing a challenge due to post-Brexit regulations as Italian teams are allowed only two non-EU players per season, with an additional slot available for an English or Albanian player. They currently have one spot remaining, making their pursuit of Rashford a more complex negotiation.

While Rashford is a priority target, Dortmund are also exploring other options. Brentford winger Kevin Schade is reportedly on their radar, according to Bild. The 22-year-old, who previously played in the Bundesliga with Freiburg before moving to England, has been identified as a potential addition. However, no concrete moves have been made for Schade as of now. Having recently sold Donyell Malen to Aston Villa, Dortmund require attacking reinforcements and they will be looking to finalise a deal before the window slams shut.
