Andre Onana OUT of Man Utd's trip to Newcastle after being granted time off by Ruben Amorim following Lyon horror show

Onana came to United as a highly-rated goalkeeper with strong showings at Ajax and Inter, but the same has not been the case with the Red Devils. Most recently, the Cameroonian failed to live up to the task against Lyon, with two mistakes off the back of trash-talking the French side and getting into a war of words with Nemanja Matic. Onana has now been left out of United's squad for their clash against Newcastle on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

The Manchester Evening News revealed that United and Amorim have afforded Onana a bit of leeway and decided to give the goalkeeper some time away ahead of the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final. According to reports, the Cameroonian is 'traumatised' after his wife, Melanie Kamayou, was mugged after a thief took her Rolex watch and designer handbag, which were valued at tens of thousands of pounds, in the Cheshire village of Alderley Edge.

Per The Times, United boss Amorim is wary of the situation that has affected Onana and his family and sympathises with them; as such, he decided to give his goalkeeper some time off to clear his head. It had been reported earlier on Sunday that several of Onana's team-mates wanted him to be dropped in light of his error-strewn season.

While reports have suggested that Onana could be dropped by Amorim for the crucial Europa League quarter-final second leg against Lyon, it is still unknown whether the Cameroonian will be in goal for that clash.
