Mohammed Babaganaru re-affirms El Kanemi’s readiness for new season

El Kanemi Warriors head coach, Mohammed Babaganaru has stressed that the Borno Army are almost set for the beginning of the Nigeria Professional Football League season despite not been involved in top-flight friendly games just yet.

The Borno Army worked with Imama Amapakabo last season but were almost relegated to the lower league until the fiat from the football stakeholders afforded them another opportunity and Babaganaru who has replaced the Super Eagles assistant coach has expressed his resolve to change the tide.

He said he has assembled the crop of players he knows too well and he is expecting nothing short of a productive season in both the league and the Federation Cup for El Kanemi Warriors.

He waved off insinuations that he raided his former teams Wikki Tourists and Yobe Stars unnecessarily having acquired 10 players from the two players but confirmed that he returned to those players because he already started a project with them while with his former club and would like it to continue with El Kanemi Warriors.

The former Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists tactician opined that they have signed players that won’t be entirely new to him and that they hope to hit the ground running as soon as the season kicks off.

“I can say that we have had a good pre-season because we have played a lot of friendly matches against lower teams,” Babaganaru told Goal.

“We decided it was best for us to start with games like the ones we have played while we are hoping to progress to grade A games when we travel to Kano for a pre-season tournament. We have looked at the players we have in the team and have brought in players that are well already acquainted with our philosophy.

“It was the reason why I opted for players that played with me while with the last club I worked with. I had prepared them for not just one season and with the type of work I did on them last season I knew that I would convince them to go with me to the next place I am going to be working.

“I am sure this decision will help the team and the technical crew at the long run because we have a team filled with players that are not entirely new. We have started perfecting our acts together and with a few friendly games against top-flight teams I can say that we are ready for the season.”
