Stuttgart's summer business has taken shape around one major signing and one significant show of commitment. The club confirmed the arrival of 21-year-old striker Dzenan Pejcinovic from relegated Wolfsburg for €25 million, making him the second most expensive signing in the club's history behind Deniz Undav. Pejcinovic scored 12 goals across all competitions last season and turned down interest from FC Porto and RB Leipzig to join, signing a contract until 2031. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth described him as an immediate option in attack across Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League duties.

The signing comes after coach Sebastian Hoeneß had publicly pressed for reinforcements, warning that time was short and that the squad needed to add quality rather than lose it. New Germany manager Jürgen Klopp has reportedly already been in contact with the club about Pejcinovic, identifying the young striker as a candidate for the national team ahead of Euro 2028.

On the retention front, Ermedin Demirovic dismissed reported interest from Eintracht Frankfurt and earlier links to Fenerbahce, insisting he is happy in Stuttgart and focused on scoring as many goals as possible this season. Hoeneß backed that position firmly, calling Demirovic one of the club's best players. Stuttgart lost a friendly to Fulham 1-0 on Saturday and face Hansa Rostock in the DFB-Pokal first round on August 21, before a Bundesliga opener that will test how well Hoeneß has assembled his squad for a campaign covering three competitions.
