RB Leipzig are enduring a difficult start to the 2026/27 season, with coach Martin Demichelis under scrutiny after a run of poor results that has left the club ninth in the Bundesliga table with six points from four games. A 2-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen was the latest setback, and Leipzig have now won only once in their last four league matches. The 1-4 Champions League loss to Como earlier in the campaign deepened concerns, though the club moved quickly to back Demichelis publicly. Sport-Geschäftsführer Marcel Schäfer cited summer squad changes and injury disruptions as context, while Roger Schmidt, Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer, reportedly pushed for the club to stand behind the Argentine coach rather than dismiss him, according to Sport Bild.

Off the pitch, left-back David Raum is a growing concern. With his contract running until June 2027 and no extension talks under way, a free transfer exit next summer looks increasingly likely. Raum has contributed zero goal involvements in the current Bundesliga season after registering ten in the last campaign, and his dip in form adds another layer of uncertainty to Leipzig's situation.

The club faces a demanding schedule ahead. A home Bundesliga fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on October 10 offers a chance to stabilise, before a Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven on October 13 and a trip to Bayern Munich on October 17. How Leipzig respond in those games will go a long way toward defining the direction of Demichelis's tenure.
