Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati will not be ready to feature for Monaco by the time the season begins, with the head coach not looking to rush them.

AS Monaco supporters were once again left disappointed after marquee summer arrivals Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati were omitted from the matchday squad for the club’s recent pre-season fixture against Nottingham Forest. Despite hopes that the high-profile duo would make their debuts at the weekend, neither player featured as Monaco marched on with their pre-season preparations.

Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati are still far from fit enough to make their first appearance for Monaco as coach Adi Hutter analysed his side's new signings.

Ansu Fati revealed he had a chat with Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal before he sealed move to Monaco. He joined the Ligue 1 outfit on a season-long loan and as part of the agreement, Monaco holds the right to make the transfer permanent next summer for €11 million (£9m/$13m), depending on Fati’s impact in France. At the same time, Barcelona have extended the 22-year-old’s contract until June 2028, as they still see long-term potential in him.

Ansu Fati has hailed Paul Pogba as a childhood idol after joining Monaco, with both players eager to revive their careers in Ligue 1 this season.
