Sounders add Wingo, Adekoya as homegrown players

The Seattle Sounders have signed a pair of academy products as they build their roster ahead of the 2017 campaign.

The Seattle Sounders have signed midfielder Henry Wingo and forward Seyi Adekoya to homegrown deals, the club announced Wednesday.

"We're pleased to add two promising young players to our roster as we head into the opening of preseason training camp," Sounders general Garth Lagerwey said in a news release. "It's vital that we continue to build from the academy and we look forward to seeing what Seyi and Henry can bring to the table."

Jermaine Jones signs with LA Galaxy

A veteran of the U.S. Under-14, U-15 and U-17 national teams, Wingo joins the Sounders after three seasons at the University of Washington. The box-to-box midfielder ended his college career with one goal and two assists over 47 appearances.

Adekoya spent the past three seasons with UCLA, recording 20 goals and eight assists in 55 games. A speedy winger, Adekoya made the All-Pac-12 second team after notching three goals and three assists in 18 matches this past fall.
