RUMOURS: Xabi Alonso set for retirement

Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso is set to retire at the end of the current season, according to SportBild.

The former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder's current deal at the Allianz Arena ends in June.

And he has met with the club's hierarchy to inform them of his decision, with speculation growing that he will move upstairs to join Bayern's board of directors.
