Polack hopeful of winning GPL title despite Wafa defeat

Asante Kotoko head coach Steve Polack insists they have not given up on their ambitions to win the Ghana Premier League despite losing 2-0 to Wafa in matchday 24 outstanding fixture on Wednesday.

Two goals from Prince Ampem and Daniel Lomotey ended Wafa's two games winless streak and widened the gap between them and Kotoko to ten points with six games remaining.

"There are four teams in the race to win the Premier League title. Aduana, Hearts, Wafa and us so I think we all have an equal chance of winning it," Polack said.

"Looking at the fixtures, we are not playing anybody in the top four but they are going to play among themselves so let's see how it goes. We have realistic opportunity so I'm not giving up," he added.

Kotoko now sit fourth position with 36 points and will welcome Bolga All Stars to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday. Polack's men last won the trophy in 2013/14 season but can clinch a double this campaign since they have reached semi-finals of the FA Cup and will face Medeama in October.
