The appointment of the new Penang Football Association (Penang FA) president is certainly not welcomed by their own fans.

Penang FA announced two days ago that Bukit Bendera’s parliament member, YB Zairil Khir Johari has been appointed as the new president of the association, with Mr. Katherisan is the new team manager effective immediately.

However, the fans quickly expressed their disapproval and dissapointment over the appointment, believieng that no political figures should be involved in the football world.

Quoted from Penang FA’s official facebook page, some of the comments were: “Politicians should not hold any decision making position in state football team aside from budget approvals.”

“What is his objective on being the president because I don’t think he has the knowledge about football.”

“Give the president’s seat to those who really deserved and qualified for it, such as or ex-players.”

The reasons for such disapproval may also be because of the team’s current performance so far this season.

Pulau Pinang are yet to win a game this year after three matchdays, scoring 0 goals, conceding four so far and currently occupying the bottom spot in the league.
