Liverpool have been preparing for the friendly clash against Napoli with a week-long intensive training camp in Evian, France following their pre-season tour around the United States where they faced the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The Reds head into the fixture in Dublin fresh off a triumphant 4-1 pounding of rivals United in Michigan, with the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah already looking sharp despite joining up with the squad in late July following their post-World Cup holiday.

New signing Alisson could also be handed his first start for the Reds after signing for the club in a world-record fee of £67m for a goalkeeper.

Roberto Firmino may be rested for the game ahead of Liverpool's final pre-season friendly against Torino on Tuesday after getting his pre-season preparations underway earlier this week.

Trent Alexander-Arnold opted to end his holiday early to return to Liverpool earlier, while Jurgen Klopp has also been handed a squad boost in the form of a rejuvenated Daniel Sturridge , who has already scored four goals in pre-season following a lacklustre loan move to West Brom.

Meanwhile, Napoli will be looking to build up on last season's momentous push for the Serie A title after finishing second only to Juventus by four points.

Carlo Ancelotti will be eager to challenge for the top honours once again this season with his new side and will be relying on the skilled, attack-minded likes of Dries Mertens, Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne.
