EUROPA CONFERENCE LEAGUE DRAW

While Arsenal fans busily book flights to Bavaria for next month, their Bayern counterparts will not be present in London at all. Bayern fans have been banned from the Emirates after throwing fireworks on to the pitch during their tie with Lazio.The club were already under a suspended sentence after incidents in Copenhagen last year and the latest charge triggered a one-match ban for Bayern's travelling support.

NO BAYERN FANS AT THE EMIRATES

Arsenal's draw against Bayern Munich <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-kane-knocking-arsenal-out-champions-league-gunners-fans-react-drawn-against-bayern-munich-champions-league-quarter-finals/blt397ff99ecf0d0592#cs4e9a9f6bb809bf0f" target="_blank">has stirred emotions </a>on both sides of the north London footballing fault-line with Tottenham's all-time leading scorer drawn against bitter rivals Arsenal.Gunners fans appeared split between fearing an inevitable exit at the hands of Harry Kane or relishing keeping the Spurs legend trophy-less. Spurs fans are desperate to see 'one of their own' bundle the Gunners out of the Champions League. But something to further complicate matters is the fact that Tottenham may well end up relying on the performance of English clubs against their German counterparts to make fifth place in the Premier League a Champions League qualification spot this season. A position Spurs currently occupy.

MIXED EMOTIONS IN NORTH LONDON

We don't have to look far back for Manchester City and Real Madrid's last meeting. City blew Los Blancos away at the Etihad last May on the way to winning the treble. But we only have to go back to the previous year for an example of Madrid coming out on top. And they did so in typically dramatic fashion as Rodrygo struck twice when his side looked dead and buried and Karim Benzema settled matters in extra-time.A third meeting in three seasons sets up a tie that surely won't lack for drama.

MAN CITY v REAL MADRID - THE TRILOGY

Liverpool fans will be quietly happy with that draw. They've avoided a reunion with Xabi Alonso and his unbeaten Leverkusen until at least the final. Atalanta followed by Benfica or Marseille offer opponents with Champions League experience but the Reds will be happy to emerge on that side of the draw and will be delighted to see title rivals Arsenal and Man City given potentially exhausting Champions League ties too.West Ham's reward for a third-consecutive European quarter-final is a meeting with Europe's in-form side, Leverkusen. If they can find a way past them they will face another big name with plenty of European experience in Milan or Roma. A glamorous draw, but a tough road to Dublin for Moyes' boys.

IT'S EUROPA LEAGUE TIME

The holders, City, against the perennial winners Real Madrid is undoubtedly the pick of the ties.Harry Kane's return to north London as Bayern chase the only trophy they can realistically win this season is another cracking draw.Xavi and Kylian Mbappe can both chase dream endings to their eras in Barcelona and Paris. DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Last year's treble-winners, City will not have wanted to draw 14-time winners Real Madrid despite last breezing past them in last season's semi-final. That disappointment will have been compounded when they were drawn against the winners of the other blockbuster quarter-final between Arsenal and Bayern Munich.On the other side, the chances of a fairytale ending for Kylian Mbappe in Paris increase after their draw against injury-hit Barcelona. Atletico and Dortmund will be delighted to draw each other and fancy their chances of making it to Wembley in June.

A draw that will really shake things up with the four favourites all drawn on one side of the draw. The winners of Arsenal v Bayern will have to fight it out with Real Madrid or Man City to make the final at Wembley.The other half of the draw sees the lesser-fancied sides pitted against each other. The Champions League anthem is playing on TV channels across the world, European football dignitaries have filed into UEFA's plush auditorium in Nyon and we'll be underway pretty soon. UEFA's Pedro Pinto, a name sounds like he could have played in midfield for Jose Mourinho's Porto, has got us underway and we're already onto the dramatic video montages of the qualifiers.

Here's some UEFA coefficient chat that's actually interesting. We promise.Next season's new format see an extra Champions League place awarded to the two nations with the best European performances this season as judged by UEFA's coefficient system.We're not going to dive deep in to decimal places about this but basically speaking that battle has come down to Italy, Germany and England. Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester United fans have a real interest in English clubs performing well which will open up fifth-place in the Premier League as a ticket to next season's Champions League.West Ham's emphatic Europa League elimination of Freiburg last night was a huge result for the Premier League's chances of a bonus spot.

A hidden storyline

Previously the exclusive domain of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with one of them finishing top scorer a mind-blowing 12 seasons running between 2007 and 2019, the Golden Boot race is a much more open affair these days and set up beautifully this season.Erling Haaland, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane have six goals each.Julian Alvarez and Alvaro Morata are still in the competition and on five apiece.Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden have both notched four.

The Europa League has a pretty decent line-up of its own.Liverpool and West Ham are joined by Serie A sides Milan, Atalanta and Roma. These big Friday draws have become something of a tradition for football fans but it's very likely that we are witnessing the last ever quarter-final draw today.Next season's Champions League reboot means the Group Stage draw will be largely computerised with teams entering the knockout phase in a tennis-style seeding arrangement.
