The Porcupine Warriors new manager has urged his players to live up to expectations and win trophies for the club

Asante Kotoko new coach Zdravko Lugarusic has advised his players to improve in order to win laurels for the club ahead of the new season.

The 52-year-old, who signed a two-year contract on Tuesday, has been tasked to win every competition that the club will participate in his maiden season.

"You know why you are here. Kotoko is for trophies," Lugarusic told his players at the club’s Adako Jachie training ground.

"You are to win league and other cups and you will have your bonuses as you win. We are not here for fun because Kotoko is to win titles.

"I don’t know all of you but I know names. I’ve heard a lot of good things about you. We can't do it if you wouldn't help us to do it.

"African players are gifted with skills. You can do anything with the ball. You can do whatever you want with it. My job here is to teach you how to run and think at the same time with or without the ball. You have to improve on your running in the game without the ball and with the ball to help the team," he added.

Kotoko are scheduled to travel to Libya in a fortnight to play Al Ittihad Tripoli in a friendly before the season begins on February 4.
