Kepha Aswani doubtful for Sofapaka in KCCA friendly

Talisman, Kepha Aswani is doubtful for Sofapaka in friendly match against Ugandan champions, KCCA on Friday.

Batoto ba Mungu will host KCCA at Narok stadium in a match that will give coach Sam Ssimbwa a clear picture of what to expect in picking his starting line-up upfront.

The Ugandan tactician has assembled what looks like one of the most lethal striking force in the forthcoming KPL season in Aswani and Stephen Waruru who was signed from Ulinzi.

The duo are expected to link up with Ugandan goal poacher, Umaru Kasumba in Sofapaka attack line that boasts of cumulative 33 league goals between them last season.

But Aswani, who crossed from Nakumatt, is nursing a knee injury and may not be available for KCCA tie, Goal can reveal.

“I have been told to rest for three days to assess the situation. I will know my state early next week,” Aswani told Goal.

Aswani picked the injury while on national duties with Harambee Stars at the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup last December.

KCCA opened their Kenyan tour with a 4-2 defeat to champions Gor Mahia on Saturday.

The Ugandan giants will take on Tusker on Monday, then a tie against AFC Leopards on Wednesday before winding up their tour with a game against Sofapaka two days later.

Sofapaka will open their KPL campaign with a home game against Bandari on February 4.
