Gareth Southgate has named a changed Three Lions team to face Germany on Wednesday as Lukas Podolski gets set to bow out of international football

Burnley defender Michael Keane has been handed his first senior cap for the England national team in the Three Lions' meeting with Germany on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old, who represented Republic of Ireland at youth level before switching to his country of birth, starts alongside Manchester United's Chris Smalling and Chelsea's Gary Cahill.

Cole: I still laugh at Arsenal

He becomes the first Burnley outfield player to play for England since Martin Dobson in 1974, while Clarets team-mate Tom Heaton starts on the bench.

On-loan Torino goalkeeper Joe Hart starts in goal for Gareth Southgate's first game as official England manager, while Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy leads the line.

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner also makes his full international debut for Germany, having scored 14 Bundesliga goals in 24 appearances this season.

Mesut Ozil misses out due to a hamstring injury, as does Paris Saint-Germain attacker Julian Draxler, while Mario Gomez has failed to overcome a groin problem.

Lukas Podolski will captain the Germany side for the final time as he bows out of international football in what will be his 130th cap for his country.
