Ifeanyi Ubah pip Enugu Rangers to lift 2017 Charity Cup

Ifeanyi Ubah defeated league champions Enugu Rangers 4-3 on penalties to emerge the 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League Charity Cup champions on Wednesday.

The reigning Federation Cup winners dragged the Flying Antelopes into a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw in regulation time at the National Stadium, Abuja.

Rangers dominated the game as new recruits Daniel Etor and Godwin Aguda produced stunning moments but the Nnewi based side were unmoved.

Things got worse for the Anambra Warriors as defender Kojo Bah was sent off after a second caution after a reckless challenge.

Unfortunately, Imama Amapakabo's side failed to build on their numerical advantage with Ubah holding out till for another barren half before nicking victory via penalties.

Ifeanyi Ubah open their campaign against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Saturday, January 14, while Enugu Rangers begin title defense against  Abia Warriors on Sunday.
