Hungary star sets free-kick record... with Ronaldo on the pitch!

A new free-kick record was set in Portugal’s 3-3 draw with Hungary - but it wasn’t by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Instead it was Hungary’s Balazs Dzsudzsak who set the new benchmark with Ronaldo now without a goal from a free-kick in 39 attempts at a major tournament,

Dzsudzsak’s goal against Portugal was the fourth direct free-kick scored at Euro 2016 - beating the previous record of three free-kick goals first set in 1984 and then in 2004.

Gareth Bale has struck two this tournament against Slovakia and then England, while Eric Dier surprisingly found the net from a free-kick in his side’s opening game against Russia.

Bale could also become the first player at a European Championship to score three free-kicks at the same tournament.
