FKF: KPL clubs to use junior team players in league matches

Football Kenya Federation have passed a resolution to have junior team players feature for KPL clubs in league matches starting next season.

Kariobangi Sharks had proposed to have players in the junior teams considered for top action in the main league and this was passed during the federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Kisumu on Saturday.

“We always have a problem with transition of players to the national team and the proposal to have junior players allowed to turn out for the senior team in league matches was a welcome move.

“This will start immediately as players from the junior teams will be issued with a temporary license that will give them a chance to play for their senior teams, when the coach feels like he wants to use them and it will definitely encourage U-20 and U-17 teams to be nurtured,” Mwendwa told Goal.

Mwendwa also confirmed that he will seek for re-election during the next polls set for 2020. “I know we are still far away, but I would like to use this chance to confirm that I will be seeking to retain my seat come election day.”
